New english.txt is up. Not the final one for 1.0.1.4, but contains a number of changes.

Found a typo in the english localization by the way:
Civil Act Electronics Focus and Electronics Mandate.
In the description you wrote that the Metal production is being increased, but in the next sentence you say that the production of metal and adv. parts is decreased.


And in Academic campaign, shouldn't it be the research output and not the economic output that is increased?

Added the new english.txt. Sorry for the delay, but we were adding and changing a lot of it right up until the patch was built.

Please be aware:
Multi-line localization is now supported. Lines ending with \ will continue onto the next line. Empty lines are ignored completely. The backslash also does not add a newline, so remember to end with \n\ if your intent is to go to a new line.

Can you use a bit clearer text formatting, something HTML-like?
#tab:8# = <tab/><tab/> (1 tab = 4 spaces), #c:green#text = <color=green>text</color>, etc.

Typo:
TUT_Context2 and TUT_Context3 are exactly the same in the English.txt file.


Also, the "remnants in space" entry, found when starting up a new game, can't be translated because it seems not to be in the locale files.

Edit: Ok thanks, nevermind about the remnants then, forgot somehow to import it from the english.txt file.

I can't find the String's which are used by the 'Object Information Panel' to display current orders like 'fetch fuel when low'.
They seem to be neither in the german txt nor the english txt. Could it be that they are yet localised in a none txt file?

Yes, those strings are not localized yet. Not everything in the game is translatable, we'll get to them one by one.

I downloaded the newest localization file and it was filled with '\0'. I removed it manually, but for future releases please don't upload files with such surprises.

That's because the encoding changed from UTF-8 to UTF-16 LE, like other languages already were.

I don't know why your editor didn't detect it automatically.

Regular windows notepad reads it as well, but wordpad does not for some reason.

I'm having the same problem - but not with Notepad++ (works just fine), it happens when I open it in WinMerge.

No idea what's wrong, though. :-\

You can set the encoding manually, but setting it to UCS-2 LE doesn't work either. It's strange every other language file seems to be recognized as UCS-2 LE automatically.

Have the same problem. Under coding is no entry for UTF 16 LE just UTF 8. I am using Notepad++ 5.8.5 and can’t find an plug-in in which introduction is talked about UTF 16 LE.
Could u have a look which Version and Plug-in’s you are using, please.

I tried UCS - 2 LE didn’t work either. except for my Inet Explorer no program shows it correctly.

Could it be that somehow my entire System lags the ability to read UTF - 16 or convert it for pads.

I found typos at the English Localization:
Line 573: evey -> every

Some Errors:
Line 590: Number 5 from list goes to Number 7 without any 6.

I also miss or disagree with some content:
Line 699: No info given about "Support"
Line 701: No info given about "Weapons"
Line 723: About Mods, it says there are only two default mods: Default and Tutorial, when I can really see six default ones on my SR version:
   - Standard Game
   - Legacy 1.0.3.0
   - Legacy 1.0.4.0
   - Legacy 1.0.4.2
   - Tutorials
   - War of the Planets

I will continue reporting editing this post as I keep finding more stuff to be fixed.  ;)

Of course. Anything you do not have in your locale file will be grabbed from the default english.txt.

Because the retail release is getting an official German translation, this will be the final version of the localization files until August most likely. Because of that, it contains strings for features we have not yet implemented, but plan to over the next month.

If there will be an official german translation, will there no more "fan" translation be implemented?! I am nearly done with the basic translation... everything is translated and older tags are fixed to fit better in the buttons and graphics... just one thing is just untouched... the tutorial...
