Stealth Fleet and other questions.
« on: April 25, 2012, 01:50:32 PM »
I'm curious if there is anything viable about making a fleet that would probably be rather expensive, but equipped with both the stealth hulls, and stealth fields? Does this actually affect the ability to detect these ships? Or just make them harder to hit?

edit: Cause it would be cool to be able to construct say, a stealth recon ship, or a hit and run type fleet, or is this not really possible?

Stealth does not modify a ship's visibility, only how hard they are to hit.

A hit and run fleet is a Jumpdrive fleet with long-range weaponry.  Jump in, hit a target, jump out.  Typically the charging sequence of your JD will be shorter than the response time of defending elements.

It only makes them harder to hit. The best way to make your ships "stealthy" is to send them out from systems that do not have any enemy units in them. If there arent any enemy units in a system when your ship leaves it it will remain unseen until it does enter a system with enemy ships, stations or planets. A ship that leaves a system with enemy units will stay revealed to that enemy until it enters a system without units from that enemy.
