Blind Mind Noob Coop Game
« on: August 21, 2010, 06:19:27 AM »
Would any one like to play the game once it's released against some bots (if possible).

The idea being that none of us will know any of the controls, interface or gameplay and so it could be quite interesting.

I'm currently working, but hope to be back for release, but if I'm not, others on here could join together.

So, what does any one think of the idea of playing the game, not really knowing anything.

Wow, quick reply :o

Thats possibly 2 people already then. We will have to work out some stuff, like how to set up a game and things, but it's all fun.

Just have someone host a multiplayer game with multiple AIs, and new players will take the AI slots. If you have 3 AIs, and 2 more people join, it's then the 3 of you against that one AI. Well, barring "diplomacy" occurring.

You guys have skype? I'd be in for a noob co-op, but it'd be much nicer if we could actually talk while playing :P

I have Skype, somewhere. Only ever used it one, but can load it up again later. I use Steam alot if that helps anyone, and there is that playxpert thing on GamersGate, just not sure if that have voice chat.

Starting to sound like this will be alot of fun. Just hope I get home in time.

I'd be up for a friendly learning game.
Dropbox - A free cloud storage tool.
Die2Nite  - A multiplayer zombie survival game.

At this rate it might have to be multiple learning games.

I would be interested too but no vacation right now so its a no go :(, But what about a Ventrilo or Teamspeak 3 server? I personally prefer those over Skype but that is just me, if anyone is interested in those let me know, I currently have a 50 slot Ventrilo server that is getting a max of 10 people using it, and can easily be upgraded to a 90 slot if the need arise's. Course Ventrilo/TS3 is not for everyone so simply input would be nice and I can post info here if enough show interest.

Out of curiousity, why do you prefere Vent/Teamspeak over Skype? Skype is free, good quality, and doesn't require a server. It also does some (usually) pretty good automatic gain balancing to make everyone audible.

How many players can we have in one game?

They said 4+, more than 4 has not been tested exactly, but should work.

It also depends on the host's internet connection. I have 5MBit upstream, anyone else have more?

I'm fine with vent also, might be more convenient than adding people manually to the skype conversation.

Most likely because I started out originally with Teamspeak 2, plus skype is free yes but it has a limit of I think 10-12ish people in same conference before audio drastically breaks down, compared to The voice servers listed above that can handle 100+ people in one room at once with no audio degrade, although course it is hectic due to all the speaking but point remains I feel that Ventrilo and Teamspeak 2/3 Provide a much better quality and premium when you have a large amount. Not to mention alot of features are available with them compared to skype.

Please note I may be misinformed in some area's related to Skype since I have not used it anywhere compared to as much as I have with Teamspeak 2/3 and Ventrilo.

My speed proberably isn't the best for hosting across the world, but would be fine for the UK and western Europe. Think we pay for 8MB, and then we end up with an upload speed of 30kbs on speedtest or other sites.

So chances are that it'd be best for someone else to actually host the server.

I think that I can make a steam group using internet expolorer, if that may help us organise the game(s).

I'll be playing through steam so that my friends will see me playing star ruler, and they may get interested and purchase the game!

The most you can set it to in the game interface is 11 players. 1 host + 10 AI slots. That would mean no AI to play against of course...

I was just curious as to your reasons, not looking for an argument. We use Skype quite happily for a 5-7 person roleplaying group and have never had trouble. I've never had a need for a 30+ person voice server myself.

I think a ventrilo server, possibly with multiple rooms for each game would be the way to go with this. Teamspeak also works.

Yes, but it would be a lot of fun.

So they haven't tested more than 4 players in a game? Really? How do you not test your multiplayer at maximum capacity?

I have the vent server just in case if I do need one I have used but not as much as I would like its pretty much empty and I see an opprotunity to use it for a potentially awesome game/ community.

Mmk, If you like I can post the server info if desired, or if desired we can use Aeon's or have both here for people to decide which is preferred.

Also sorry about sounding defensive was not intended was simply attempting to answer the question as quick as possible >< since a new post every few moments XD, but with how it seems the game may become quiet popular and if it does it will quickly outgrow skype's capabilities.

Well the answer I got was pretty vague, so I'm not sure.

I think having a vent server as unofficial multiplayer meetup would be great! I say go for it.
