The Newtonian physics only exist for ships and their movements. By "Fully Simulated Newtonian Physics" it means "Inertia applies to ships and thrusters act realistically." As far as I know, there is no max-speed, but I believe space has a bit higher of a friction coefficient than it does in real life.

That'd be easy to rotate your pusher plate towards them, barring one problem, the plate, having to shield several megatons of force per square inch, must be very dense, hence very heavy. To add to the problem, your source of thrust is only able to be used on the opposite side of this plate, making it very hard to turn. I doubt you'd be able to turn it on time to protect yourself, and you would also waste a lot of reaction-mass, as this propulsion system implies you use very large nukes on occasion, not small ones continuously.

The teaser is graphically ancient, as almost everything in it has been redone, but as far as I know the galaxy will continue to be improved, though whether it is improved towards game-play efficiency or realism I am not sure of.

Today we upgraded SMF to its newest version, and through a huge amount of SQL queries and a lot of help from phpMyAdmin, we got everything working.

Correction: There are some bugs remaining, and we are working to fix them. At the very least, none of the bugs appear to cause issues with usability.

As it turns out, if your processor is too hot, the "System" process will take up most of your processing power. I spent 6 hours working on debugging the problem of this computer being slow as hell, and then I realized, the fan wasn't on. :P

So ya, if anyone else has the System process taking more than 4% at any time, check your cooling.

Maybe planets should also have xy offsets on the orbits, that way it can be an elipse where the star is not dead-center of the orbit, but slightly closer at one point than another?
