I loved all of it.

The info on fleets is great, I wanted a game that would not give too much importance on every single ship but rather on the fleet composition. I hope SR2 will be the game to bring it.
Will there be fleet commands available in some form? Like fleet actions, manoeuvres and such? Frankly my biggest wish is not to be even given an ability to give single-ship commands, but I did notice on many occasions that most people do not share my point of view, at least not entirely.

Committing genocide having serious ramifications is just as good. Will there be other options available, like incorporating other species into your empire so you can still claim a planet without killing all inhabitants?

Incorporation of several FTL travel has been known before, but I do have to ask whether Sword of the Stars has been at least some of the inspiration for this. SotS has done it with excellence and it seems weird that it was never even mentioned.

Suggestions / Dock at nearest when threatened AI setting

For unarmed ships - miners, haulers etc - I'd love to have some sort of "dock at nearest when threatened" AI setting in the design phase. So that when an enemy (perhaps bigger than size 1 to prevent running away from scouts) enters the system, these ships would dock at nearest possible docking place. Be it a planet or a carrier.

If possible for the future - having same sized ships looking different but obviously belonging to the same shipset would be great. It could be automatically selected when saving a design or even selectable manually. The differences wouldn't need to be anywhere near dramatic.

Star Ruler Discussion / Balancing mining laser and export dock

Basically I'm having huge fun with ultra-balancing ships, always taking advantage of all available ship space etc..

I've just gotten export dock and I'm trying to create a miner that would not waste time travelling to planets, it would just export everything it mines, preferably in refined end products. So...

I have an export dock on the ship with a mining laser.

Is there a way to balance the mining laser input with export dock output? So that I'd make the output just a weeny bit higher than mining capabilities and would only need a very small cargo space? Other than trying it all out several times, naturally.

Strategy / Research, diplomacy and stuff

How do you guys manage research? In a test game I colonized three solar systems with research colonies and naturally research went up considerably. Than I added some general sciences levels and it went up helluwa more! How do you strike a balance between research colonies and general sciences research? I guess you can't constantly research general sciences as that prevents you from researching anything else but neglecting it seems foolish as well... So, where to stop?

Also, how much do you use diplomacy in SR? I'm wondering for both SP and MP as I kinda suck at diplomacy.

Suggestions / Could fuel depot be available without research?

Basic structures like fuel depot could really be available without research. I'm not sure whether there are any other but this one is especially bothersome. I ask because planets can build ships with fuel (and it would IMO be weird if they could not - why build ships if you can't propel them) but they can not effectively refuel even a single ship.

Probably not possible but still, if the game can differentiate between a ship order and a fleet order in any way I'd like to suggest the fleet order to take over. This would probably mean all ship orders in the fleet to be deleted and fleet order to be carried out.

This would prevent ships like tankers staying far behind their fleet while they try to refuel a hauler or something.

It would  be much easier to compare designs if the stats were shown in the blueprints list already instead of in layout view only.

Just wondering, how far is Star Ruler from its "complete" status, meaning the phase developers would want it to be in when the game came out?
